Having a motorcycle is great, maintaining it is even better! π
Maintaining your motorcycle is essential to its safety and performance. First of all, make sure you know the model of your motorcycle, so you’ll be aware of the recommendations for your particular model.
We recommend that you wash your motorcycle regularly and carry out basic checks: tires, brakes, bulbs… For more in-depth maintenance, we recommend that you contact a competent mechanic who knows your model.
Washing your motorcycle
As well as looking good, cleaning helps maintain your motorcycle. Rain and bad weather can form corrosion very quickly, damaging the value of your motorcycle.
β¨ For proper cleaning, you need :
- Clean your motorcycle regularly
- Use the right products
- Wash when the motorcycle is cold
- Move to a shady spot to prevent the sun from damaging the products and paint.
When using water to clean your motorcycle, be careful not to overuse high-pressure washing. Despite the effectiveness of this method on dirt, this solution can damage your motorcycle, its paintwork, stickers and fragile parts (seals, connecting rods, etc.) if the correct distance is not respected. Make sure there’s no standing water in your motorcycle after washing.
A degreaser is essential to remove the grime accumulated on your chain. We recommend that you visit a specialist store to choose the right product. The use of a good cloth is also important: we recommend using microfibres or a clean cloth to avoid scratching your motorcycle. Our final recommendation on washing is the metal care section. After washing, it’s time to take care of the mechanical parts by lubricating them (chains, stand, etc.).
Mechanical maintenance of your motorcycle
To maintain your motorcycle, you need to visit your mechanic every year. Builders also have maintenance deadlines to take into account. Nevertheless, we’d like to share with you some important points to bear in mind. π¨βπ§
First of all, a motorcycle is made up of different elements that need to be taken into account and monitored:
β Fluids: bleed coolant and brake fluid to keep your motorcycle running smoothly
β Tires: check wear and pressure
β The chain: make sure it’s well tensioned and sufficiently greased
β Brakes: monitor the condition of brake discs and pads for your safety
β Oil: change your motorcycle’s oil with the right products
